Universal Pictures, an American film studio, is part of Hollywood's "Big Six" film studios. It is owned by Comcast, through its subsidiary NBCUniversal. The studio's production studios are located at 100 Universal City Plaza Drive in Universal City, California, while its distribution and corporate offices are based in New York City. Universal Studios is a member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The studio was founded in 1912 by a group of individuals including Carl Laemmle, Mark Dintenfass, Charles O. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the first three films became the highest-grossing films at the time of their initial release.
